About us

Founded in 1944, the Associació d’Amics del Ferrocarril de Barcelona is a non-profit entity declared of public utility in 1975 and which brings together those people who have a common esteem for the railway world.

It began its activities in a premises of the Barcelona College of Engineers. The first President of the entity was José Mª Bonet Garí, nephew of the architect of the Sagrada Família who remained in office until 1967.

The Association, as such, participated throughout the first years in the railway model exhibitions held throughout the Spanish state.

It was not until 1960 that it had its own premises on the first floor of a building on Escudellers Street; After a few years it was moved to the Francia Station, to the old post office yard or also called “Ala Nord”, until 1992 when, due to the transfer of this area of the station to the Pompeu Fabra University, it was moved to the Ocata street, otherwise called “Ala Sud”.

In January 2013, the Association moved its facilities again to Doctor Trueta Street, 183, in the Poble Nou neighborhood, belonging to the Sant Martí de Provençals district, in an easily accessible ground floor premises that represents a great qualitative leap that should allow us to better face the challenges of the 21st century.
